Oh no! Verizon pushes back the ship date of the Galaxy SIII... by a day

For Verizon customers who simply can’t wait another moment to get your grubby paws on a Samsung Galaxy SIII, it looks like you’re going to have to wait one more day after all. The “ship by” date, which had previously been set for July 9th, has now been changed to July 10th on Verizon's website.

In the big scheme of things this really isn’t a big deal of course, especially when you consider how much later than other carriers Verizon was in receiving the original Galaxy S. Big Red skipped the Galaxy SII altogether last year (though it was a trade-off for exclusive rights to the Galaxy Nexus, so presumably Verizon customers didn’t suffer too much), so relative to past years Verizon is getting the Galaxy SIII very early in the release cycle. It’s just that it will be one day later now.

The Galaxy SIII launch had been threatened until recently, as Apple was trying to get a temporary injunction on the device, but have since dropped their request due to fears that it would push back the entire trial. So it looks like smooth sailing for the launch. It’s worth reminding readers that if they really want a GS3 on Verizon and you have a grandfathered unlimited data plan that you won't be able to activate the GSIII until after the cutoff date. So if you're looking to upgrade and want to be absolutely sure you keep your unlimited data plant for another upgrade cycle you may want to choose a phone that is available now, or else plan to pay the full $600 retail price for the GS3.
