AT&T prices the Samsung Galaxy S II at $9.99 until June 17th

Let's say you're AT&T and you are about to get in a huge order of Samsung Galaxy S III handsets. You need to get rid of the older Samsung Galaxy S II units still collecting dust on the shelf. What do you do? Well, maybe it's us, but we would definitely chop the price of the older model to $9.99 with a signed 2-year pact. And just to make sure we get potential buyers to move their butt, we'd probably give the deal about, oh, 48 hours before pulling it. What a coincidence! AT&T has decided to offer the Samsung Galaxy S II for just $9.99 on contract until the close of business Sunday. And here Sprint customers thought that they were getting a great deal with the Samsung Epic 4G Touch priced at $99.99 with a signed 2-year contract. The specs do seem a bit dated, but still manageable.

The AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy S II has a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED plus screen with a rather poor pixel density of 217 ppi. The dual-core 1.2GHz Samsung Exynos processor is under the hood with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of native storage and a 32GB capacity microSD slot. The 8MP rear facing camera has AF and an LED flash while capturing video in 1080p at 30fps. The 2MP front-facing camera takes self-portraits and enables video chat. Android 2.3 is currently running the show although the Ice Cream Sandwich update will be soon here. After all, the T-Mobile version has already received Android 4.0.3.
